Bonjour, Madame B.

May 1, 2008

I had this really, really great (albeit frighteningly unoriginal) title set for my post, and I log onto the ol’ Blog and find that my Twin Brother has beaten me to the punch of greeting Ms. Bovary. Now not only am I frightening unoriginal but I am also derivative.

Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to crack the cover of Emma’s Superfun Adventurous Romp Through Ennui-ridden Angst (that’s what I call Madam Bovary, well alternatively that and just Bovary as in, “Oh, I just read the funniest thing in Bovary.” (Lots of funny things happen in Madam Bovary, right?…or was I misinformed?)

Oh well, I guess only time will tell.

Bovary out,

Justin

Hola Madame

May 1, 2008

So today I’d like to welcome Madame Bovary to our book discussion…welcome, Madame

Madame;’s Response:  “Je ne comprends pas Anglais

The most surprising aspect of the book thus far is Madame’s absence from it…I don’t know about you twin, but initially I thought I’d stumbled into the wrong book.

It reminded me of the time I decided to read The Exorcist and I read Chapter One and then I read Chapter Two and then I was ready to go on to Chapter Three and when I turned the page I found a second instance of Chapter One!  It was late, I decided that the book may, in fact, be possessed by the devil (or it was misbound) and I never picked it up again.

The connection between those thoughts was “surprises in reading”.

I also remember how we went and saw the theatrical re-release of The Exorcist and you got so scared that you cried a little.

Well that’s all I have for now…I only read Chapter One this morning…I just thought I’d get the ball rolling.

Best and Regards,

Jon
