I did notice the fun that Sterne has making up words that are derived from Tristram and/or Shandy and I thought that are similar wordplay was suprisingly apt, suprisingly Sternean. Good job us.
I finished Book 6 and it was maybe the best book yet…I practically flew through it. The definite highlights for me are the fiery debates between Mr. and Mrs. Shandy…Lincoln and Douglas watch out!
And someone needs to stop Dr. Slop from practicing medicine. Really. It’s out of control.
As I read today I got more and more the feeling that this book is a precursor to the discomfort comedy that I, for one enjoy so much…I’m thinking Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Alan Partridge. But maybe I’m just thinking that because Steve Coogan was in the movie version of Tristram.
But so was Gillian Anderson and Tristram Shandy doesn’t make me think of The X-Files at all.
From the speed I’m proceeding it’s looking like my self-imposed end date of May 2008 may (haha) just be a possibility.
If that is I can stop watching Slings and Arrows and reading Y: The Last Man.
