Word up
April 2, 2008Your mention of the dictionary in your last post provides me with an excellent opportunity to work in a Samuel Johnson reference. Dr. J being an old friend of the blog has not gotten much type time recently having been pushed off the blog in favor of the likes of Bea Arthur and Angela Lansbury. And that my friend is a shame.
I am sure everyone’s favorite lexicographer would pleased as punch to hear of your devotion to his masterwork. And while I am as big a fan of Dr. Johnson as the next person, I will not let my expression be limited by the “established” dictionary.
In fact, in honor of our reading I have been developing a few new Shandy-derived adjectives that I am sure will soon find widespread use. So far I’ve come up with the following:
Shantastic–defined as exceptionally, wonderfully Shandy-like
Shandistic–defined as unnecessarily drawn out meandering and boring
Shandelicious–defined as….well, I don’t know yet its a work in progress.
I think wrapping up Shandy by the end of April is good goal. I’ll keep that in mind during my reading.
