On Muppets and Sundry…

March 17, 2008

Well Twin there’s so much to ”unpack” from that last post of yours that I don’t even know where to begin…

But because starting somewhere is a must I’ll start with the Muppets.  I’m so glad you brought this up!  Although I had not connected Sterne’s Shandy to the oeuvre of Grover, when I read the book the narrative voice in my head does belong to Bunsen Honeydew.  So Muppets all around!

And good luck with that possible paper…I’ll be interested to hear how it works out for you!  I know how heartbroken you were when your thesis connecting the Smurfs to plays of Marlowe didn’t work out (cf “A Very Smurfing Tragedy: Gargamel as Modern Day Faust”.)

Second, worry not about tarrying around Sterne’s masterwork…our new friend Tristram writes, “[his digressions] have struck out a hint which I am resolved to follow,–and that is,–not to be in a hurry.” (p.44–maybe your not that far yet).  Take your time, its not a race (or is it?  I guess we’ll find out when I win and keep bringing it up for the next five to fifty-five years).

Yesterday I made muffins…banana walnut.  From a mix that I bought at the store.  The grocery store.  What is the Shandyman the only that go off on unrelated topics (ahem, Yorick)?
